Game Night at Here Be Books - Saturday, May 3, 6pm to ???
Join us for fun and games at Here Be Books on the first Saturday of every month.
This month the theme is card games: Double-Deck Pinnochle, Canasta, Euchre, Uno, you name it. Bring a folding chair (if you have one) and an itch to play cards. I’m bringing my card-holder, too. There’s a lot of cards to hold at once in Double-Deck Pinnochle.
If anyone’s got an extra card table, please give me a call. Feel free to bring another type of game if you prefer. The goal is to have some fun, socialize, maybe make some new friends.
Snacks and drinks are available for purchase at the store.

I had a blast playing Double-Deck Pinochle with Mike, Jason, and Chris. Chris and I had to concede after a bad bid that set us was followed by two poor hands of cards. Up til then the teams were running neck in neck.
Jason and Chris were new to the game, but seemed to pick it up quickly. Mike kindly gave us pointers as we played, so we could all improve. I really enjoyed myself. I hadn’t played Pinochle since we moved here from San Diego in 2003. I look forward to more games with this and other crews on future game nights.

I had a wonderful time at Game Night. Before that night I couldn’t even spell Pinochle. Now, well, I still can’t spell it, but at least now I have a vague notion of how to play it. It’s a very interesting game full of wonder, mystery, and suspense…though still hard to spell. I’m up for a rematch whenever you’re ready!

A rematch sounds good to me. I know Tim would love to play. So now we just need a 4th.

If we can’t find a fourth, we could play a modified Double-Deck Pinochle. Three people in it just for themselves. Each person bids independently, wins independently, etc. We might need to take the jacks out to keep our hands from becoming too large to handle. A three person double-deck Pinochle. That’s like…sextuple Pinochle…or something.
My head hurts now.
