The Crow Brothers on Farm Hill by Angela MorrowChildren’s author Angela Morrow will be at Here Be Books, Saturday, February 7 from 3 pm to 5 pm to read her new story “The Crow Brothers on Farm Hill” and sign books.

About the Book

Unleash your imagination and prepare for the Greatest Fairy Tale Ever Told….. This heartwarming tale promises laughter, charm, suspense, courage and compassion. It’s a wonderful story to read for all ages. It’s harvest time on Farm Hill. Farmer Fred grew the best tasting greens in the land. However, when the long awaited morning comes, there is a devastating surprise for Farmer Fred. It is catastrophic. His vegetables are squashed, squished and squelched. No one has a clue who, what, how and why his crops are ruined. With time running out, anticipation is high for the best harvest ever. Can Farmer Fred put an end to this madness before there are no edible plants left on his farm?

When: Saturday, February 7, 2009 at 6 p.m.

Where: Here Be Books at 4650 Ladson Road, Suite I, Summerville, SC [map]

Requests to Play

We’ve had requests for players to play:

  • Pinochle
  • Scrabble
  • Killer Bunnies
  • Euchre
  • Dungeons and Dragons

I’m certain we’ll be playing other games, too!

New Games Just Arrived and Waiting Eagerly to Be Played

We’ve recently received a whole stack of demo games including most of the Ticket to Ride line of games by Days of Wonder, lots of stuff by Looney Labs and some great games by Z-Man Games.   We’ll certainly have no shortage of stuff to play - not that we ever do have a shortage of games. Chairs, however… we have run out of. :-)

What kinds of games do we play?

All kinds, including: group games, card games, board games, dice, strategy games, you name it. Last month we played:

  • Bohnanza (twice)
  • Carcassonne (twice)
  • Citadel
  • Citadels
  • Metro
  • Scattergories
  • Transamerica
  • Pandemic (twice)
  • Rummicube (twice)
  • Thurns and Taxis
  • TransAmerica

We also had a record turnout: 19 people!

If you have a favorite game you’d like to play, bring it with you.

You don’t have to know a game to play it: we’ll teach you.  I’ve learned at least one new game at every Game Night.  The object is to have fun. We could all use a little more fun in our lives.  Best of all, it’s FREE!

What to Bring

Bring a folding chair if you have one. Don’t worry if you don’t, just bring yourself.  Drinks and snacks are available for purchase at the store or you can bring your own. Feel free to bring any games you might want to play, too.
