Come join us for Game Night at Here Be Books & Games. Make new friends, socialize and have some fun. You can learn a new game or play an old favorite; either way you’re sure to have a good time.

Next Game Night: Saturday, February 6 at 6 p.m.

Where: Here Be Books & Games at 4650 Ladson Road, Suite I, Summerville, SC [map]

What kinds of games do we play?

Here’s a sampling of some of the games we’ve played recently at the store, including Game Nights.

You can also view a list of most of the games we’ve played since March 1, 2009 (we occasionally forget to post plays, so it’s not 100% accurate).

If you have a favorite game you’d like to play, bring it with you.

You don’t have to know a game to play it: we’ll teach you.  I’ve learned at least one new game at every Game Night.  The object is to have fun. We could all use a little more fun in our lives.  Best of all, it’s FREE!

New Games Expected or Just Arrived

  • The Adventurers
  • Carcassonne the Castle
  • Carcassonne expansions: Traders & Builders, Inns & Cathedrals
  • Cardcadassonne
  • Catan Histories: The Struggle for Rome
  • Catan Logo playing card decks

  • Settlers of the Stone Age
  • Shear Panic
  • Thunderstone
  • Ticket to Ride Europa 1912 (Expansion for Ticket to Ride Europe)
  • Tide of Iron (get a great price on this Like New, unpunched copy received as trade)

We got a stack of demos in from Fantasy Flight and Asmodee at the end of 2009: so many we still haven’t learned and played them all yet.

There’s never a shortage of stuff to play at Game Night. You’re welcome to bring your favorite game(s) along to play, too!

What to Bring

We often run out of chairs, so please bring folding chair(s) if you have them. Thank you!Bring a folding chair if you have one. Don’t worry if you don’t, just bring yourself.  Drinks and snacks are available for purchase at the store or you can bring your own. Feel free to bring any games you might want to play, too.

Game Night - Saturday, Oct 4, 2008 6pm to ???

Filed under: Game Night — Tags: — tina @ 2:14 pm

Because it’s the month of Halloween, I thought our theme this month should be games that involve ghosts, witches, zombies, black cats, spiders, pumpkins, haunted houses, fortune telling, etc. So break out your somehow-Halloween-related games and let’s play!

If you have some folding chairs and/or a card table, please bring them.

September Game Night at Here Be Books - Saturday, Sept 6, 6pm to ???

Lady McDuff has declared September to be Sharing Month. So, bring a favorite game to share with the rest of us blokes (you might have to teach us the rules.) No fair making them up as you go along, either. :-)

Great news for all you roleplaying gamers out there that have been itching for a game (I fit the category, too, but I’m in here): Mike will be running a 1st edition Advanced Dungeons & Dragons scenario, probably levels 1 to 4. So bring along your low-level characters and gaming paraphernalia and be prepared to play. This is gonna have to be first come, first seated - you can always help set up, too :-). I’m not sure how many Mike can accommodate; I’m guessing not more than six or eight. If you don’t already have a character you want to play, you can roll one up - another reason to arrive early.

If you’re interested in running a game yourself, please call Tina or Tim at the store (843) 695-1498 or come by and talk to us in person.

Rain Date

If we get rained out, we’ll hold game night, Saturday, September 13, 2008. Same bat time, same bat place.

Game Night - August 3, 2008 6pm to ???

Filed under: Game Night — Tags: — tina @ 12:08 pm

The theme for Game Night on July 5th was Free-for-All so we played a variety of games. We thought we’d turned the tables on a conga line of zombies that were kicking our butts - we’d reduced the conga line to a trickle - but as the luck of the draw would have it, literally (the game master’s draw),  the tables turned again and we lost. The nice GM lobbing the zombies at us won, though :-).  I had fun all the same, and everyone else seemed to have a good time, too, if the laughter and groans (when that blasted card turned up) are any indicators.

Since I’ve had no requests for a particular theme, August is Anything Goes.  Bring your favorite game and a folding chair (both optional) and join us for fun and games, Saturday, August 3rd at 6pm until whenever.

Filed under: Game Night — Tags: — tina @ 11:46 am

Come join us for games Saturday night! Usually we pick a theme (board games, card games, etc.) for the evening’s venture, but, in the spirit of Independence Day, we’ve decided to make July’s Game Night a free-for-all. We have quite a selection here at the store, but you’re welcome to tote your favorite game along with you and set up camp.

Snacks and drinks are available for purchase, but if you have an extra folding chair or two, we could use some extra seats. The more, the merrier - come join us!

Date: Saturday, July 5, 2008
Time: 6 pm to 9 pm

Get on board for games on Saturday night at Here Be Books! Our theme this month is board games, so Scrabble, Life, Risk, Trivial Pursuit, and Aggravation are all in the game plan. (You‘re welcome to bring your own games if you want.)

Most of us are amateurs, just looking for ways to mix fun and friends with some light evening entertainment. Snacks and drinks are available for purchase at the store, but if you have an extra folding chair or two, we could use some extra seats. The more, the merrier - come join us!

Game Night at Here Be Books - Saturday, May 3, 6pm to ???

Filed under: Game Night — Tags: — tina @ 1:01 pm

Join us for fun and games at Here Be Books on the first Saturday of every month.

This month the theme is card games: Double-Deck Pinnochle, Canasta, Euchre, Uno, you name it. Bring a folding chair (if you have one) and an itch to play cards. I’m bringing my card-holder, too. There’s a lot of cards to hold at once in Double-Deck Pinnochle.

If anyone’s got an extra card table, please give me a call. Feel free to bring another type of game if you prefer. The goal is to have some fun, socialize, maybe make some new friends.

Snacks and drinks are available for purchase at the store.

Game Night at Here Be Books - Saturday, December 1, 2007 at 6:00 pm to ???

Filed under: Game Night — Tags: — tina @ 12:57 pm

Join us for fun and games at Here Be Books the first Saturday of every month. In October we played Three-Dragon Ante, in November we hosted D & D Game Day. In December, I’m thinking we should play some good old-fashioned card games: Rummy, Pinochle, Euchre, Cribbage, Go Fish??, you name it! Especially since we just got a great selection of fancy playing cards in stock.

Tell me (Tina) what card games you’d like to play at (843) 695-1498.
